Why are you running for Board of Education?
In 1996, My husband and I moved into the Forest Hills School District. We heard about Orchard View Elementary and wanted our children to attend. We had a SUPER FANTASTIC experience raising our children in Forest Hills Public Schools.

We dove straight in:
-
Getting involved with sporting events
-
Volunteering in the classroom
-
Chaperoning trips
-
Working as co-PTO Presidents
-
Coaching
-
Working for the district
-
Teaching for community services and so much more.
Our children graduated, and we became empty-nesters. So life started to look a little different.
Last summer, a neighbor approached me and mentioned that I should attend a Board of Education Meeting, so I did. But I was not prepared for what I experienced. Sitting there listening, I thought, "What happened to Forest Hills?"

But it was not just at our school, so I took a year to research. I attended meetings, looked at news sources and medical articles, and listened to parents, retired & current staff, coaches, and bus drivers. I knew our whole country, in every school district, was facing the same issues.
I know the future of our community and the future of our students is at risk if we don't change something soon.
For a year, I was asked to run for the school board. I wondered how to carve out the time from my schedule with running my own business. But looking at my grandkids, knowing what the future could hold for them, I could not sit idly on the sidelines. My passion is serving others. I would love to serve on the Forest Hills Board of Education, where I feel I can help make a difference in bringing the community + classrooms back together.
I filed on the deadline day and spent the next month preparing the way by moving business responsibilities to other team members. I went to more meetings, answered more questions, and gathered support. My thoughts, goals, news articles, and mission have made it to this digital platform. This site will serve as a place where I can interface with Forest Hills parents and staff. It will be updated weekly.
